Portrait of the Norse goddess Hel with a stone relief of the World Serpent, Jörmungandr, in the background.

Digital drawings & paintings, unless stated otherwise. Mostly personal projects.

All drawn by hand with a graphic tablet or traditional tools, no Ai generation.

Illustration of the Norse goddess Hel sitting on a stone throne, flanked by stone carvings of her siblings: Jörmungandr the World Serpent and Fenrir the Wolf. Intricate carvings of screaming faces decorate the dead tree and the sides of the throne.

Hel in Black

Nordic Goddess Hel | 2019

Hel in Black, Painter & Photoshop 2014/2019.

Hel, goddess of the Underworld in Norse mythology. Half dead, half alive, rules over Helheim, a realm of cold, hunger and famine where those who die of sickness and old age go, denied the halls of Valhalla. Carvings on her throne represent her siblings: the wolf Fenrir, and the world serpent Jörmungandr, all of them children of the trickster god Loki and giantess Angrboða.

An older 2014 variant of my illustration of Hel sitting on a stone throne, flanked by stone carvings of Jormungandr and Fenrir. Screaming faces with hollow eyes decorate the throne.

Hel

The older version of Hel's portrait (2014), in clothes more stylized on the Viking Age, wearing a Norse woman's apron held by tortoise brooches. I dressed her black later, in 2019. The clothes and jewelry are not one hundred per cent historically accurate, especially the head dress, but I believe that in a realm of fantasy and mythology gods and goddesses could attire differently to real people of that time.

Painter & Photoshop 2009/2014.

Note - I have retouched her face, prints on the site are the updated version. If you prefer a print of the untouched variant let me know.

King of Diamonds

"Scion of Kings" as the King of Diamonds, done on my friends' request.

A double portrait of an Elven king as a playing card, with two busts divided by a shield and flanked by spears. The man wears ornate plate armor with stars, showing black hair on top and blond hair at the bottom.

Scion of Kings

High Elven King, the Scion of Kings. Inspired by the tales of the Elder Days.

Illustration of a fire-man and an ice-woman locked in an embrace amidst swirling waves of fire and freezing water. Their abstract, featureless faces blend into their elements: flowing flames for him and sharp ice-spikes forming a crown for her.
